Josh Garber
2400 West Grand Avenue, intersection at Grand and Western Avenues

This 23-foot powder-blue steel sculpture was a gift to the City of Chicago Public Art Collection by West Loop Gate Community Organization. Garber welded utility poles into a loop that twists like a Möbius strip. Born in Canada in 1963, Garber studied at Banff Centre of Fine Arts, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and Camberwell School of Art in London. Other work in Chicago includes Hope and Renewal at the Chicago Transit Authority's Kimball Brown Line train station. What appears to be part of the station's structure is actually architectural columns hand-crafted from thousands of aluminum bars.
