Eternal Flight, 2006
Leonardo Nierman
Outpatient Care Center,
University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center
1740 West Taylor Street
Dedicated to his friend Dr. Lawrence Ross, the Clarence
C. Saelhof Professor and Head of Urology at UIC, Eternal Flight was donated to the University of Illinois at Chicago
by Mexican artist Leonardo Nierman. Like his other work in the city, Flame of the Millennium, the sculpture
is an elegant stainless steel expression of movement with a shiny surface that
reflects the colors of the surrounding buildings and natural environment.
Unlike Flame, which sits alongside
the Kennedy Expressway, Eternal Flight allows
passers-by and staff at the Outpatient Care Center to enjoy the work at a much
slower pace.
