Atop
a limestone plinth at the west entrance of the zoo, this bronze group features
an adult female black bear and two cubs attempting to catch fish from a stream.
Davis (born 1962) is a native of Texas.
Raised an only child, the artist claims that animals were his closest friends.
A member of Society of Animal Artists and The American Society of Marine
Artists, many of his bronze and stainless steel pieces feature animals and
nature. Other works can be viewed in Columbian Park Zoo in Lafayette, Indiana
and Dallas Zoo.
