S. Thomas Scarff and John
Adduci
30 East Elm Street
This
21-foot aluminum sculpture was commissioned by the owners of this Gold Coast
building. Artist John Adduci (1948), a
close associate at their Sedgwick Studio, worked with Scarff on the piece.
During construction, Adduci cut off three fingers. The artist was rushed to
Northwestern University Hospital where all three were successfully reattached.
Scarff decided to title the work in honor of his friend’s traumatic accident.
